Cannabis testing in Fribourg: finding a suitable laboratory beyond SAAV
SAAV generally does not accept private product analyses other than drinking water. A targeted private laboratory search avoids an unnecessary detour for a cannabinoid profile.
Official responsibility: Fribourg
Service de la sécurité alimentaire et des affaires vétérinaires (SAAV)
Fribourg's SAAV distinguishes chemistry, food-biology and veterinary-biology laboratories. Apart from drinking-water analyses, it generally does not test for individuals or businesses. Its official laboratory description must therefore not be read as acceptance of private cannabis testing.

Practical example · fictional
A Fribourg business finds an accredited food laboratory. For its hemp oil it still checks the exact scope, individual compounds and reporting basis. An accreditation logo alone cannot answer those questions.
Your next steps
- Research private providers rather than sending to SAAV
- Check oil-matrix coverage
- Specify THC, THCA and the total-value calculation
Does SAAV accreditation mean private samples are accepted?
No. Accreditation scope and acceptance policy are different matters. Fribourg’s official page directs private clients towards finding a suitable laboratory.
Questions to clarify locally
A cannabinoid profile alone establishes neither safety, absence of contaminants nor legal compliance.
